1930 Ford Model A Coupe Hot Rod
Ford Ford a
Year of issue: 1930

This 1930 Ford Model A hot rod was built in 1978 by a member of the North Shore Strokers Car Club of Massachusetts. Nicknamed “First Born,” the car features a chopped and channeled five-window coupe body mounted on a custom-built Z’d frame. Power is provided by a Corvette-sourced 350ci V8 equipped with a Weiand intake manifold and four Stromberg 97 carburetors. The engine is backed by a T-10 four-speed manual transmission, and other highlights of the build include a dropped front axle, independent rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, a chopped Deuce grille, and front cycle fenders. The interior is trimmed in two-tone cream and turquoise and features pleated upholstery, lap seatbelts, Stewart Warner gauges, and a tilting/telescoping steering column. The car is equipped with suicide doors, a chopped ’32 Ford grille shell, a tilt-out windshield, a windshield visor, a trailer hitch, Guide 682-J headlights, ’68-72 Chevy van taillights, and front cycle fenders made from ’35 Ford spare tire covers. The frame was custom built using 4×2″ box tubing and features a 12″ kick-up out back and a 4″ kick-up at the firewall, though it retains Model A horns up front. The frame was repainted in gloss black in 2019, and paint chips are noted on the passenger-side of the trunk lid and on the passenger-side A-pillar. Custom-built 15×6″ and 15×8″ wheels are finished in red and wear ’55-56 Thunderbird hubcaps. Front 5.
