This 1958 Volkswagen Beetle underwent refurbishment in California circa 2008 and was awarded 1st place for its class at the 2010 Solvang VW Veteranentreffen Weekend hosted by the Golden Gate Chapter of the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America. Subsequent work included installing a set of Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, changing the oil, adjusting the valves, and replacing the brake hoses, heater hoses, axle boots, and shocks. Power comes from an air-cooled 1. 2L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, while the body is finished blue over beige tweed upholstery. Additional details include European-specification chrome bumpers, Hella “snowflake” taillight lenses, a locking shifter base, sisal floor mats, a Bambus parcel shelf, aluminum door sill guards, and a Tri-Mil Euro Two-Tip exhaust. Initially finished in Glacier Blue, the body was fitted with a sliding canvas sunroof section and repainted Dove Blue Circa 2008. Exterior details include headlight visors, chrome jack hole covers, ice pick-style door handles, Hella “snowflake” taillight lenses, European-specification chrome bumpers, period window decals, and a ski rack with skis. Overrider bracket holes are present in the front apron and rear fenders. Body-color 15″ steel wheels wear chrome VW-stamped hubcaps, stainless steel beauty rings, and 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
