1932 Ford Five-Window Coupe Hot Rod w/Trailer
Ford Ford hot rod
Year of issue: 1932

This 1932 Ford five-window coupe was initially turned into a hot rod in the 1950s and was further customized and refurbished in the early 1990s by Dave Cummer of Biddeford, Maine. The body is steel and has been channeled, and the car rides on a boxed and Z’d frame. Power comes from a Mercury flathead V8 equipped with Offenhauser cylinder heads, an Offenhauser intake manifold, and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. The engine is backed by a three-speed manual transmission, and additional highlights of the build include a dropped front axle, Vega steering box, Lincoln drum brakes, cycle fenders, chrome nerf bars, and a Columbia two-speed rear end. The interior is trimmed in turquoise and gray upholstery and has been fitted with bucket seats, a wood center console, an Impala-style steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, and three-point seatbelts. The steel body has been channeled 5” and is finished in Chevrolet Tropical Turquoise with multicolor pinstriping. Painted to match, the frame was boxed, Z’d at the rear, and reinforced with crossmembers during the aforementioned build, which was completed in 1993. The trunk lid was also shaved, the taillights were tunneled, and cycle fenders were added before the car was repainted. Chrome nerf bars were fabricated, and other exterior details include a gray vinyl roof covering, a Brookville Roadster stainless-steel grille insert, a tilt-out windshield, Dietz headlights, and a receiver hitch. Dents and chipped paint at the bottom of the grille surround can be viewed in the gallery.
