Ford Ford hot rod
Year of issue: 1930

This Ford-style roadster street rod was built at Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop in Louisville, Tennessee, utilizing a Rat’s Glass Speedstar fiberglass body mounted to a fabricated steel chassis. Finished in metallic orange, the car is powered by a 302ci Ford V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a Currie rear end. Additional equipment includes a Heidt’s independent front suspension, a four-link rear setup, adjustable coilovers, and 17” and 20” Boyd Coddington wheels. The interior is trimmed in tan upholstery and outfitted with a Lokar shifter, a Lecarra steering wheel, and Classic Instruments gauges. Drawing inspiration from the ‘33 Ford roadster, the Speedstar fiberglass body was designed and produced by Rat’s Glass in Wareham, Massachusetts, before the company’s acquisition by Factory Five Racing. This car was assembled at Alloway’s, where it was mounted to a custom-fabricated steel chassis and finished in Prowler Orange with tan pinstriping. Exterior details include an aluminum grille insert, an LED strip taillight, and a rear license plate frame that retracts when the ignition is turned off. Scuffed paint on the underside of the grille surround is shown up close in the gallery. Boyd Coddington 17” front and 20” rear wheels are mounted with older BFGoodrich g-Force T/A tires. The Heidt’s independent front suspension assembly features chrome control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, Aldan adjustable coilovers, and disc brakes with slotted rotors.
